The Candy Thief

Jacob has really enjoyed Valentine's Day this year.  The highlight for him?  Stealing everyone's candy!

Jason got me a Symphony bar as a part of my Valentine's present.  I love them, but I don't eat them very often.  Since I'm trying to be "good" and watch what I eat, I decided I would eat one square a day.  Unfortunately, I left it sitting on the island in our kitchen which used to be out of reach.  Later that day, I came back and realized it was gone.  I asked Jason if he had taken it and he said no.  Then, I saw the wrapper sitting on the floor.  I asked Jacob if he had taken it and at first he said, "I don't know" (this is his standard answer for everything lately) and then he finally said yes.

Emily went to a birthday party on Saturday and another one yesterday.  She also got some goodies at church on Sunday.  Unfortunately, she left them sitting out and before we knew it, Jacob had gotten every last goodie.

I had gotten some Three Musketeers bars for Jason the other day and we left them on the ledge which we also through was out of reach, but somehow Jacob managed to get ahold of them and managed to eat almost an entire chocolate bar before we caught him.

We thought we had gathered up and either hidden or gotten rid of the rest of the Valentine's goodies, but I just caught him again tonight with more.  I'm thinking he has a hidden stash somewhere!

Sneaking food is not limited to Valentine's treats, though.  He has decided that our pantry is his own personal grocery store and over the past few weeks has helped himself to a box of Honey Nut Cheerios, Pop Tarts, and a box of Fruit Snacks (not all on the same day).  You would think that I would have learned by now that when things get unusually quiet around here it usually means trouble!

That was my first thought...did he get sick?

Nope - he didn't get sick - I think he has a cast iron stomach!
