Kidisms

I've had a fun day with the kids today. Jacob pulled his Halloween costume out of one of his dresser drawers and was insistent that I put it on him. It's been several hours now and he still won't let me take it off. At least his costume is getting plenty of use.

This morning we had a bit of a disaster with our family Elf. I had heard from others to be prepared for this, but I thought we were on top of it and we've done a pretty good job so far, but last night, we both forgot to move Elf. Both Jason and I have been sick, and I think we were just so worn out last night that we didn't even think of it. But Emily noticed as soon as she got up this morning. She was devastated. She said, "Oh no! Elf is in the same spot." Yesterday Elf brought her a Lifesavers story book (Jason and I both remembered getting them for Christmas when we were kids), and I had to reach up to take it down. She was convinced that I had touched Elf and made his magic go away (if you're not familiar with the story, you're not supposed to touch Elf, and if you do, his magic goes away which means he's "stuck" and can't get back and forth between your house and the North Pole). Then, she started crying and saying, "Oh no. Now Santa's not going to come because Elf didn't come back. This is just terrible." I think I finally convinced her that Elf might have just been really tired last night and probably got some of the sickness that's been going around our house and so he needed a rest and he'll probably report to Santa tonight instead.

That is too funny, I have forgotten a couple times to move ours, but luckily have gone downstairs before Ella and was able to correct my mistake :-)! Don't forget tonight!!!
